2019 Survivor Fallen Angel Profiles: The Australian Outback

Welcome to the 2019 Survivor Fallen Angel Profile series!

In these threads, we encourage in-depth discussion about the "fallen angels" throughout Survivor history, counting down from the most recent to the original. In this context, a fallen angel is the last player eliminated prior to Final Tribal Council.

What allowed these players to make it to the end game? What are the reasons they fell short? Were they legit threats or coattail riders? How close were they to winning? Who would they have won or lost against had they made it to Final Tribal Council? How was their gameplay, narrative, story, edit, competition, and former or later seasons (if applicable)? What's their Survivor legacy? Are they overrated or underrated as a player and a character? Will they ever return?

These threads are meant for in-depth discussion, not low-effort content. We encourage people to post their detailed thoughts after reflecting on these fallen angels and their paths through the game.

Today's topic: Survivor: The Australian Outback fallen angel Keith Famie.

  • Method of Elimination: Voted out at F3

  • Individual Immunities won: 2/8

  • Tribal Councils Attended: 11/13

  • Votes Against: 8

  • Correct Votes: 9/11

He has the highest average number of days played of any survivor player, and he'll likely never be beaten

Keith Famie is my pick for the most underrated character in all of Survivor. He was a great narrator and was involved in some of the best moments from the season. That AOL proposal, helping Tina get the rice back during the flood like a badass, overcooking the rice, feuding with Jerri, and his weird love/hate relationship with Colby. I loved him

I will defend Keith Famie as an underrated character to the death. He works very well within the context of AO, even if his edit is a bit odd and doesn't seem to match up with reality. In the story of The Australian Outback, the good guys needed to beat the bad guys in the end. That was how the story needed to be told out after Borneo showed the bad guys beating the good guys at the end. Colby and Tina are the obvious good guys, but they need bad guys to beat. The two bad guys (according to AO's edit) are Jerri and Keith. Jerri is the more important villain, but Keith also fulfills a vital role as the guy who just can't win a million dollars. I recognize that Colby and Tina's shit-talking of Keith after Colby votes him out seems totally random, as does the majority of Keith's negative SPV, but his role still works and was totally necessary to the season following Borneo.

Outside of his role, he provides some solid stuff to the season. His AOL proposal is an iconic moment of early 2000's pop culture and he was a solid narrator who was a part of a number of AO's better storylines. Keith is a legitimately good character and it's sad he's been forgotten.

*insert "she voted for her mom!" joke here*

Keith is a rather odd fallen angel to be perfectly honest. Up until Jenna Lewis, he was the only real goat to get voted off at the final three. All other final three eliminations throughout the early years could of easily won their season.

Keith stood no such chance. Had he been sitting in FTC alongside Colby, Colby would of won in a likely unanimous vote.

JL wasn’t a goat. She would have beat either of the two finalists.

Didn’t they do a poll at the All Stars reunión where they showed Rob would beat Jenna? Shii Ann would have changed her vote which is why Amber gifted her the new car since she was her deciding vote. Or do I remember that wrong

Straw poll didn’t account for Rupert switching. Possibly Kathy too. It just asked if any Amber voters switch to Rob I think.

Lex, Alicia, Tom, Rupert - that's 4.

level 5

Rupert would not have voted Jenna. He would have been upset that she voted for him.

level 6

He votes for Sandra when she voted him out

level 7

He wasn’t aligned with Sandra in HvV and she did try to help him. He didn’t listen. The jury was asked who they would have voted for if it was Rob Vs Jenna and Rob wins. Shii Ann, Rupert, Kathy and Amber would have voted for him.

No, Rupert understood that Jenna did it because she didn't want to draw a rock.

What BigPoppaPuff said, Jenna would have easily won

Jenna destroys either one of them in that jury. Played a much better social game.

tbh I thought this entire season was boring and Keith is no exception. One of, if not the, least interesting of the fallen angles.

All I want to know is what’s he’s up to these days and if he’s still with Katrin aka Peas or Carrots.

Was never going to win so not really a fallen angel

I always loved that he won the first two individual immunities. Challenge beast Keith

level 1

I really didn't like him but he outplayed Jerri and Amber like a boss and put some ideas about Jerri into Colby's mind also imo reinforcing his dislike. So, in a way i'm glad he didn't make it to F2, he didn't deserve it for real.
