a deal that will bring €99m into the Inter club coffers
t is widely reported the two clubs finally agreed a transfer fee worth €27m, including performance-related bonuses. On top of that, Inter will benefit from the €12m per season wages saved until 2014
Can we not pretend money not spent is the same as money made?
Money not spent is actually the same as money made, particularly when you would have been forced to pay said money by virtue of a signed contract.
But they're not just being relieved of the responsibility of paying him, they're doing it at the expense of an asset. If I sell my house, I make the money from selling it and don't have to pay electricity bills, but I'm also homeless.
Yes, but the point is that assets have variable value. Maybe Inter doesn't believe Eto'o is worth now what he was worth when he signed that contract. Therefore, by selling him now, they are saving money that would have been wasted by overpaying for what is now an overpriced asset. And by relieving yourself of an asset on which you were taking a loss, you now have, for all practical purposes, made a profit.
The fact is, they've only made €27m. If you're going to take into account the wages they'll save, it's not a fair reflection on their actual business unless they also factor in what they lose in shirt sales, ticket sales, sponsorship, potential reduction in winnings and future earnings by not having Eto'o's goals, and what they'll spent on a replacement.
Basically, this story has been run into the ground for weeks now, and with nothing new to add, they've decided to recycle it but inflate the stats and hope people don't realize it.
According to the article, that 12 million is apparently doubled for tax reasons, so it's 24 million per season saved. If that is true, then that is still a sizeable amount: 51 million euros from the first year alone.
Again, it's still just money not spent. It's not like it's not going to be spent on another player.
yeah, there's a little misunderstanding, but in 2014 Inter are going to be €99m richer than they should've been with Eto'o still in the squad
....if they choose not to replace him.
Money in the bank is money in the bank.
This is how people go bankrupt. They buy things cheap in a sale and tell themselves they made money instead of spending less, strangely the more money they make the more in dept they get.
Eto'o's (wut) new club is located in Dagestan, but the players stay and train in Moscow. What a brilliant construction.
For those who don't know: Dagestan is the province right next to Chechnya to say it's dangerous to be there is an understatement, apart from the gunfights every night the place is known for kidnapping westerners for ransom. (Arjan Erkel was kidnapped there for example) So that's the reason they'll stay in Moscow.
Annoying Eto would do this, he could improve so many top flight teams.
Money talks I guess, and this is an insane amount
I was hoping that he would take a pay cut and play for the Arsenal. Imagine Eto'o with van Persie behind him ... sigh
That would be beautiful
