Time to update the /r/movies Top 250 films for 2019! Come on in and vote for your favorite movies!

If you would like to look at the current reddit 250 you can find it here: reddit 250.

Before you begin looking for movies to vote on or to submit to be voted there are a few things to remember!

NO REPEATS Before you decide to submit the name a movie make sure that that movie hasn’t already been submitted. CTRL+F IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. Load as many submissions as possible before searching, once this post has been up for a while most likely your favorite movie will have already been submitted!

Format your submission as follows- Movie title (with imdb link), year of its release (if in doubt go by the year listed on IMDB), and director. Just like this:

Reservoir Dogs (1992), Quentin Tarantino

Airplane! (1980), Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker

If the title has an unconventional form or is a foreign language film you can add a more traditional spelling or the original or American name in Italics underneath. Such as "Seven" for "Se7en" or "Life is Beautiful" for "La Vita Bella".

Comments that do not follow this format will be removed.

THERE WILL BE NO DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD. You don’t need to tell all of reddit why they should vote for Groundhog’s Day. Just vote. (We’re also well aware of the criticisms of using reddit as a format for this kind of list. We know. There are other methods of compiling a list, but in our opinion that this is the best way of compiling a list for a subreddit of this size.)

SOME MOVIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN ADDED. Say hello to /u/MoviesMod who basically exists for this and a few other things. It's a dummy account and it will be posting the Top 100 from last year's list. Please check /u/MoviesMod's profile or this thread with ctrl+f before posting a well known movie. Be sure to set your RES to show all comments as some submissions have been downvoted beyond your threshold. Also, if you're posting a foreign film that goes by a different title in its country of origin, post that title italicized in your comment for search purposes.

NO EDITING In order to avoid jokesters changing their submission last minute we now have a new rule that any comments that have been edited in the last 24 hours of the poll will be removed from the final tally.

WE ARE ALREADY FULLY AWARE THAT THE SYSTEM IS FLAWED. Yes, we know about contest mode and we don't think it's a great idea for a default sub with 17 million subscribers. It would cause way too many reposts. Yes, we know reddit isn't the greatest format for these kinds of things. Yes, we know that this list will most likely end up being a greatest hits for the reddit demographic rather than something resembling the Sight and Sound Top 1,000. Yes, we know. If you'd like to discuss any of that further feel free to message us. Please don't antagonize us or the list in this thread. Save it for when we announce the new list.

Go vote and have fun. We'll be officially closing the thread in a week so March 7th at 11:59PM, PST. So in case you miss out on voting on the initial day, you'll have a chance to vote until then! Also, be sure to give the list a good look before moving on. Vote for your favorite movies, give them a chance!

Just one final reminder, every year we post the final results and every year tons of people complain. The best answer to help make this list better is VOTE! Take the time and go through it. Submit films you like. Try to find the smaller films that aren't getting enough attention.
